Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>THE government has increased Covid-19 testing fee to 185,000\/- per person but has exempted patients and students, the House of Representatives heard here on Friday.<\/p>\n

Health, Social Welfare, Elders, Gender and Children Minister Nassor Ahmed Mazrui told the house the hike was necessitated by rising operational costs, especially procurement of the testing kits.<\/p>\n

He said the service demand has increased globally, pushing up the operational costs as well.<\/p>\n

Minister Mazrui however assured the legislators that the 185,000\/- charge applies only for travellers, maintaining that the testing for patients, Covid-19 suspects and students remains free.<\/p>\n

Responding to Kwahani Representative Yahya Rashid Abdulla, the minister said there special exemption arrangement under which students seeking the relief have to submit their requests through the health ministry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
