Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>AZAM FC striker Prince Dube has signed a two-year extension deal at the club, saying he is looking forward to break the team\u2019s goal scoring record.<\/p>\n

Azam Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdulkarim Amin \u2018Popat\u2019 said yesterday that the Zimbabwean has extended his stay at the club up to 2024.<\/p>\n

His initial two-year deal was due to expire next year. Earlier Dube said he is eager to beat record stamped by John Bocco at the club during the 2011\/2012 Mainland Premier League campaign, where he netted 19 goals.<\/p>\n

Dube, who leads the league\u2019s goal scoring table with 14 goals to his name, needs to hunt five more goals to surpass Bocco\u2019s record.<\/p>\n

Azam have four matches remaining to conclude their league campaign this season and the \u2018ice-cream makers\u2019 side sit third of the log on 60 from 30 outings.<\/p>\n

The Zimbabwean striker has had a turbulent season considering the fact that he was forced out of league action midway into the season due to injury.<\/p>\n

Perhaps, by now, he could have already set a new record in the club.<\/p>\n

Speaking recently in Dar es Salaam, the striker narrated that he is still hopeful to score extra goals from their remaining matches of the season.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnything can happen, the most important thing is to believe in yourself and be at a good position to score goals during games.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou never know what will happen at the end of the season; maybe I will be able to break the record.<\/p>\n

Even if I fail, then I can register my own record,\u201d he said. He then lauded good support he gets from teammates, who he said feed him with good passes which result into goals.<\/p>\n

\u201cScoring is not one player\u2019s job but rather, each player on the pitch plays his part to get the goals. As such, my teammates usually do a great job and helping my team to win is the most important thing,\u201d said him.<\/p>\n

Again, Dube disclosed that he feel honored to be included in the class of Azam legends like Bocco and Kipre Tchetche, who did a plausible scoring job at the \u2018ice-cream makers\u2019 side.<\/p>\n

Apart from Bocco, the other two top strikers at Azam who managed to win golden boot award with their season in bracket are Mrisho Ngasa (2010\/2011) where he scored 16 goals.<\/p>\n

The other is Kipre Tchetche (2012\/2013) where he pumped 17 goals in the process to grab the season\u2019s golden boot award.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
