Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has called on Tanzanians to continue taking all required precautions against the coronavirus pandemic which has impacted the global health system.<\/p>\n

President Samia said the government has successfully managed to contain the pandemic and that more efforts were being applied to ensure the safety and health of all Tanzanians.<\/p>\n

\u201cCurrently the situation is not bad in our country, but you all hear about some countries which have been hit hard by the pandemic such as India…although we have banned flights to and from India, we still need to take precautions against the scourge,\u201d President Samia said while addressing patients at Mwananyamala Regional Referral Hospital.<\/p>\n

The Head of State yesterday made impromptu visits to various areas in Dar es Salaam.<\/p>\n

She visited Mwananyamala Regional Referral Hospital, Kariakoo Market and also inspected the ongoing construction of Dar es Salaam Bus Rapid Transit (DART) from Gerezani to Mbagala.<\/p>\n

She urged the public to continue adhering to preventive measures as issued by health experts including, wearing face masks, washing hands with water and soap or alcohol-based hand sanitizers.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, President Samia pledged to improve the welfare of medical personnel, urging them to work hard in serving Tanzanians.<\/p>\n

She said the government is aware of the challenges facing various health facilities in the country such as shortage of medicines and health workers and pledged to work on those challenges.<\/p>\n

While at Mwananyamala Regional Referral Hospital, President Samia donated 200 bedsheets. President\u2019s Samia\u2019s call came just a few weeks after she received the country\u2019s Covid-19 status report from a special committee of experts, placing more emphasis on 19 key recommendations including advising the government on steps towards approving voluntary vaccination.<\/p>\n

The Chairman of the Committee, Prof Said Aboud who handed over the report to President Samia said that previously, the country had been hit hard by two waves of Covid-19 pandemic, warning on the high possibility of a third wave.<\/p>\n

Prof Aboud said efforts to contain the first wave had been intensive in comparison to the second one, calling upon the government to step up the fight against any possibility of the third upsurge.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government needs to proceed with the steps towards voluntary vaccination approval against Covid- 19 using vaccines listed by WHO in the protection of its citizens\u2026based on the committee\u2019s analysis; such vaccines are effective and have scientifically been proven fit for humans,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children had issued a travel advisory which put in place new measures to control the spread of Covid-19 in the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
