Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>MEMBERS of Zanzibar interfaith committee led by clerics from Catholic Church, Evangelical Lutheran Church (ELCT), Tanzania Assemblies of God (TAG) and Islamic Sheikhs, yesterday commended President Hussein Mwinyi for good leadership.<\/p>\n

The committee met President Mwinyi to discuss and share various matters regarding Zanzibar\u2019s political and economic development.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe successfully managed to meet the president. We are happy with his performance so far, and many people have trust in him,\u201d Bishop Dickson Kaganga told Journalists at the premises of the State House after their meeting with President Mwinyi.<\/p>\n

He said that their followers have been impressed with Dr Mwinyi\u2019s efforts in strengthening peace and political stability, and building the country\u2019s economy by implementing the \u2018Blue Economy\u2019 policy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government should ensure that the blue economy policy is well understood by all people,\u201d Kaganga- secretary of the Interfaith said.<\/p>\n

He said Dr Mwinyi\u2019s government is inclusive since all groups of people are given equal opportunities, adding that his open discussion focused on promoting political and religious tolerance are uniting Zanzibaris.<\/p>\n

Sheikh Khalid Ali Mfaume, Secretary, Office of Zanzibar Mufti noted that the current peace, stability and love in the country necessitate the speeding up of the hearing of the ongoing cases in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Mwinyi has united us as the people of Zanzibar, and we now live peacefully with hope of a bright future,\u201d Sheikh Mfaume said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
