Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>RENOVATION works at the Majimaji Stadium in Songea, Ruvuma which will host Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC) semifinal between Simba and Azam have reached 80 per cent.<\/p>\n

The two teams will square off on June 28th this year, battling for the finalist slot whose winner will face either Biashara United or Young Africans who will fight in another ASFC semis at Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium in Tabora on June 24th this year.<\/p>\n

This was disclosed recently by the stadium\u2019s manager Hassan Mbalale, who insisted that everything will be completed timely as scheduled before the big match.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs of now, the upgrading works have moved above 80 per cent, whereby a lot of work has been done on the pitch itself. The remaining 20 per cent will involve making good water drainage, painting fans\u2019 stands and other minor works. \u201cLet me assure Ruvuma and nearby residents who were doubting about our capability to stage this big game that we are progressing well and there is no way the match could be transferred to another region,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added that other areas they are going to upgrade include dressing rooms of the teams plus ensuring that enough water and electricity is available all the time at the venue.<\/p>\n

Simba, who are looking to defend the ASFC title for the second time in a row, advanced into the last four courtesy of a resounding 3-0 win over Dodoma Jiji at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Azam outclassed Rhino Rangers 3-1 at Karume Stadium in Mara, as they are eager to win at least one title this season to end their long term title drought.<\/p>\n

It will be one of the thrilling matches to watch as both sides know each other better but at the end of 90 minutes or so, one team will march into the finals.<\/p>\n

Likewise, Biashara United floored last season\u2019s finalists Namungo 2-0 to book a ticket of facing Yanga who also demolished Mwadui 2-0.<\/p>\n

ASFC title winner will represent the country in CAF Confederation Cup games next season. Last season, Namungo earned that honour despite losing to Simba in the final.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
