Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>THE Jehovah\u2019s Witnesses will be holding their annual convention virtually again this year, with the event set to take place over six weekends during July and August this year.<\/p>\n

The global event themed \u2018Powerful by Faith\u2019 will be delivered in more than 500 languages to households throughout the globe, uniting 15-20 million people in 240 countries.<\/p>\n

Jehovah\u2019s Witnesses Spokesperson, Zadok Mwaipwisi said breaking from a century-old tradition in the name of health and safety, the convention has moved its annual inperson event to a virtual format for the second time in as many years.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor over 50 years, Jehovah\u2019s Witnesses have been streaming into major towns in Tanzania as they hold their conventions that are a highlight of their annual activities.<\/p>\n

In 2020, the pandemic unexpectedly interrupted that tradition, moving the international religious organization to cancel in-person conventions throughout the world and launch a global virtual event,\u201d he said He said since the convention is typically held from Friday through Sunday, the program will be available in six installments corresponding to morning and afternoon sessions.<\/p>\n

Friday morning\u2019s session will be available for streaming or download beginning June 28, 2021.<\/p>\n

Mr Mwaipwisi said the continued risk of bringing thousands of people together in cities around the world prompted the organization to opt for a virtual platform for the second consecutive year.<\/p>\n

However, the move has not curbed the enthusiasm for the annual event. Congregations around the world are inviting the public to join them on this historic occasion \u201cFaith has helped our global brotherhood to continue to thrive even during a pandemic, our faith will continue to unite us in worship \u2013 even virtually \u2013 as millions gather in private homes around the world to enjoy a powerful and inspiring spiritual program,\u201d he said Jehovah\u2019s Witnesses is a millenarian restorationist Christian denomination with nontrinitarian beliefs distinct from mainstream Christianity.<\/p>\n

The group reports a worldwide membership of approximately 8.7 million adherents involved in evangelism and an annual Memorial attendance of over 17 million. Jehovah\u2019s Witnesses are directed by the Governing Body of Jehovah\u2019s Witnesses, a group of elders in Warwick, New York, United States, establishes all doctrines based on its interpretations of the Bible.<\/p>\n
