Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa has outlined great strides made by President Samia Suluhu Hassan in the first 100 days in office.<\/p>\n

The achievements include registering 93 investment projects worth 1.6 billion US dollars (more than 3.7tri\/-) which are anticipated to create up to 24,600 jobs for the country\u2019s youth.<\/p>\n

Mr Majaliwa disclosed yesterday in Dar es Salaam at a forum to discuss the 100 days of President Samia in office which was organized by the Tanzania National Business Council (TNBC).<\/p>\n

\u201cThis marks an important milestone after boosting investors\u2019 confidence and doing away with unnecessary bureaucracy in the registration of new investments in the country,\u201d said Mr Majaliwa.<\/p>\n

Besides, President Samia scrapped more than 230 nuisance taxes which were imposed on the business community.<\/p>\n

According to the premier, elimination of such taxes will now pave the way for more investors to smoothly run their businesses in the country.<\/p>\n

He said the goal of embarking on such reforms was to facilitate cash flow among Tanzanians who participate in various economic activities.<\/p>\n

Equally, the Head of State has continued to strengthen diplomatic cooperation between Tanzania and other neighbouring countries.<\/p>\n

In doing so, recently the President visited Kenya, Uganda and Mozambique to strengthen diplomatic relations with those countries.<\/p>\n

Likewise, the Head of State also hosted various delegations from other countries–an important move to enhance diplomatic ties.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, President Samia continued lining up a number of new projects whereby within the 100 days she laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway line (SGR), the stretch from Mwanza to Isaka.<\/p>\n

Among other projects are the construction of four new ships which will operate in Lake Victoria, Lake Tanganyika and Indian Ocean and rehabilitation of a major old ship.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe ships will be operating in Lake Victoria, Lake Tanganyika and the Indian Ocean with one of them having a capacity to handle 3,000 tonnes of cargo serving Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnother major work is the rehabilitation of MV Umoja which previously operated between Tanzania and Uganda,\u201d Mr Majaliwa said.<\/p>\n

Another landmark achievements recorded is the establishment of a secondary school project for girls in all councils within the country.<\/p>\n

Likewise, the President has dished out 500m\/- in each constituency for the rehabilitation and improvement of roads in the rural areas<\/p>\n

Also, the Head of State has succeeded to unite Tanzanians regardless of their political affiliations, ethnicity, religion and colour, a vital ingredient behind peace and unity in the country.<\/p>\n

On delivering social services including water, health, and education, construction of infrastructures in the rural and urban areas are among other achievements.<\/p>\n

In strengthening good relations between the government and people, the President has been meeting with various group representatives including elders (Dar es Salaam), women (Dodoma), youth (Mwanza), religious leaders (Roman Catholic) and petty traders.<\/p>\n

She also met with private sector players through various forums, and a Nigerian investor in Tanzania, Mr Aliko Dangote.<\/p>\n

The Premier said a major task was to meet with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to deliberate on how to further strengthen Tanzanian economy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
