Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>MINISTRY of Lands, Housing and Human Settlement Development will this month issue guidelines for registration of land brokers and dealers so that their operations can be monitored and regulated by the government.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Dodoma regional and district leaders yesterday, Minister for Land, Housing and Human Settlement Development William Lukuvi said land brokers and dealers are required to be registered basing on their qualifications and issued with identity cards which will allow them to operate.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnregistered land agents and brokers will not be allowed to engage in the business. . .the guideline will also show how the registration will be conducted in a month period so that they can be easily identified and monitored.<\/p>\n

Mr Lukuvi said that land brokers and dealers have been earning a lot of money but have been denying government of its revenue for not paying taxes, thus the registration will help to identify and regulate them.<\/p>\n

According to minister Lukuvi, the registration is aimed at enhancing efficiency in estate industry. During the registration, district leaders will be involved in order to identify those with qualifications so that they can continue to carry out the business.<\/p>\n

\u201cRegistered land brokers and dealers will be made public so that they can be known by institutions and all Tanzanians… unregistered brokers will not be allowed to do the work,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said the registration exercise will also help to address land disputes caused by land brokers who sell a plot of land to more than one person. Earlier Dodoma District Commissioner Dodoma, Jabir Shekimweri said the evaluation which will be done in Dodoma City it will help to control mushrooming of land brokers in the capital.<\/p>\n

Tabling the 101.1bn\/- budget estimates for 2021\/22 fiscal year in August House Mr Lukuvi said that his office will come up with guidelines and regulations on how to monitor and control land brokers so that they operate according to the laws.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome land brokers and dealers have been deceiving and conning people by selling them ghost plots … my office will take stern measures against them in order to contain the situation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said it has come to the government attention that there are unregistered companies operating as surveyors and land brokers by conducting businesses such as renting, selling and buying of plots as well as house auctioning which is contrary to the laws.<\/p>\n

\u201dThe trend has been a source of several land conflicts, inflicting of prices and denying the government its revenue by not paying the required tax, thus the guidelines and regulations are going to deal with the situation\u201d said Mr Lukuvi.<\/p>\n

The minister said it is high time for the government to identify and register land brokers and dealers in the country and issue them with guidelines and regulations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
