Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Former President Jakaya Kikwete has described the late President Benjamin Mkapa as uncompromising leader in his lifetime of leadership in the country.<\/p>\n

Speaking at Mkapa Symposium held at Mlimani City Hall in Dar es Salaam Wednesday, the former President Kikwete said Mkapa was always determined to accomplish his goals.<\/p>\n

Emphasizing on the matter, the fourth phase President said that among other strong memories he had about the late Mkapa was his his devotion in serving his countrymen.<\/p>\n

\u201cThroughout his life in public Service, journalist to be particular as a Foreign Service officer, as Ambassador, MP, as a Minister and as President, his top priority was service to the people. He was very bright, visionary, hardworking and very eloquent both in writing and speech,\u201d he described Mkapa who died a year ago.<\/p>\n

According to Kikwete, Mkapa\u2019s contribution to the country\u2019s development especially in uplifting people from the abject poverty, through various initiatives, were evidences that the fallen hero cannot be forgotten easily.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are a number of policy initiatives and measures he took as well as instruments he put in place in institutions he established which speak for themselves about how compassionate the late Benjamin Mkapa was,\u201d Kikwete stated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
