Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>THE Turkish Embassy has commended Tanzania for maintaining a stable relationship with its country and its outstanding peace keeping efforts.<\/p>\n

The remark was made on Thursday in Dar es Salaam during the commemoration of the 5th anniversary since Turkey foiled a coup attempt that took place in July 2016. Speaking briefly during the event, Turkish Ambassador to Tanzania, Mr Mehmet Gulluoglu, said the Tanzanian government has been good at cooperation which is important to foster bilateral relationships with a peaceful country such as Tanzania.<\/p>\n

The event involved different members of the Turkish community in Tanzania to celebrate and remember victims who died in the event which marked a monumental turning point in Turkey\u2019s political history. \u201cWe honor and remember the victims who died during the wars by sharing this precious moment with the people in this country who have taught us nothing more than peace, love and caring for one another,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He further said that despite the major negative impact of the coup attempt in 2016, various efforts and measures by the Turkish government have yielded positive results. According to Mr Gulluoglu, the achievements, including economic recovery recorded in four years since the coup attempt, have enabled Turkey to continue implementing its investment drive in Tanzania in various areas, including education. \u201cAfter the coup, we suffered a major setback in many areas, and most of our operations ceased in some places.<\/p>\n

However, in time we have overcome the hurdles though not all of them, but we have managed to finance projects even in Tanzania where we have built schools which are well equipped and affordable to all people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Turkey witnessed the bloodiest coup attempt in its political history on July 15, 2016, when a section of the Turkish military launched a coordinated operation in several major cities to topple the government and unseat President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which was subsequently foiled.<\/p>\n

On the same occasion, they launched a water well facility at the city named Prof Dr Ilhan Varank to honor his name and contribution to the country. Also the water well aims to help the community to access clean and safe water.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
