Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>THE 2020\/21 Mainland Premier League golden boot\u2019s winner John Bocco has predicted a tough Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC) finals against their traditional rivals Young Africans on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The country\u2019s football giants will settle their differences after 90 minutes of shoulder to shoulder action at Lake Tanganyika Stadium in Kigoma where the winner will take away the country\u2019s second biggest throne.<\/p>\n

Bocco finished the season at the top of the scorers\u2019 sheet with 16 goals to his name hence dethroning his scoring partner Meddie Kagere who was trying to defend the golden boot award for three seasons in a row.<\/p>\n

Speaking over the weekend after their last match of the top flight league against Namungo at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Bocco said they are aware that the encounter will be difficult.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that it will be a tough game than the previous one we lost against them but we are going to make good preparations to make sure that we obtain positive results in the end.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur strong desire is to win the match after we lost the Premier League\u2019s last derby that\u2019s why we need to undergo adequate preparations prior to the ASFC final,\u201d Bocco said.<\/p>\n

Giving his overview on the just ended season, Bocco narrated that teamwork and presence of experienced players were the key for them to excel in the league and defend the championship.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thank my teammates for putting on a good fight to accomplish our target of retaining the title. Even our technical bench, management and fans have all played a recommendable job to make us reach this far.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe request them to continue supporting us in the upcoming season in order to do even much better than the concluded term,\u201d said Simba skipper who scored a late spot kick to win the golden boot award.<\/p>\n

He added that they approached their last match against Namungo with caution as they never wanted to end the season on a back foot like the way they did in some of their final matches in the previous seasons.<\/p>\n

On his part, Chris Mugalu who finished the season as the second top scorer with 15 goals, admitted that it was not easy to net the goals as each game was difficult.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am happy to win the trophy with Simba and this has added something big to my football career. I thank everyone including my family for this big achievement,\u201d said him.<\/p>\n

Also, Taddeo Lwanga who lifted his first league trophy at Simba lauded the club\u2019s fans for always being there throughout the season saying they had a critical role to propel for the title win.<\/p>\n

Goalkeeper Aishi Manula praised his colleagues and the entire Simba management for tirelessly working to make sure that they stand out tall at the end of the season.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a long and difficult campaign as we had a lot of matches and in between, we experienced Covid-19 but, we continued to push forward as a team despite all the challenges we faced until we have finally won the title at our home territory,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

About the upcoming ASFC thriller in Kigoma, Manula also described it as a difficult match since it is a final match and the two sides know each other well but insisted that they will not repeat the same mistakes which surfaced in their past meeting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
