Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>LED by experienced Carl Tundo, nine-member crew from Kenya arrived in Dar es Salaam yesterday for Oryx Rally, the third round of African Rally Championship (ARC) this weekend.<\/p>\n

Tundo who will be navigated by Tim Jessop in Volkswagen Polo comes to Tanzania as the winner of the second round; Equator Rally of Kenya which also served as the candidate event of World Rally Championship(WRC).<\/p>\n

Alongside Tundo, there were three drivers from World Rally Championship\/FIA Rally Stars programme who are coming to spice up the event\u2019s showdown.<\/p>\n

The drivers are Jeremy Wahome who will be racing in Ford Fiesta, Hamza Anwar also Ford Fiesta Proto 3 while the third member of the team is Mcrae Kimathi (Ford Fiesta).<\/p>\n

Carl Tundo and his navigator Jessop are come to Tanzania with their eyes on winning the rally at their maiden attempt.<\/p>\n

Tundo\u2019s entry into the event elevates the anticipated fight for the Africa Rally Championship points.<\/p>\n

After victory in the Kenya Equator rally, Tundo scored maximum points to go level with South Africa\u2019s Guy Botterill at 30points.<\/p>\n

The South African did not earn any points in the second round. While it is expected to be a neck to neck battle in the Ubena Estate where the rally will be held, Tundo admits it will be an exciting race.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very excited and looking forward to the event and Tanzania fans. It should be fun. Our aim is to get a good finish but would like to win of course,\u201d said Tundo.<\/p>\n

Although he will be in line for ARC points, Tundo confesses to having no ARC prospects this year. \u201cFor the time being we are not focusing on ARC, it is just Rally Tanzania.<\/p>\n

If the opportunity arises for ARC next time, that would be great but not hunting for it now,\u201d he added. Tundo and Jessop will be giving the VW Polo R5 its third outing in the region.<\/p>\n

They come off an impressive drive in the World Rally Championship round in Kenya last month. Tundo was placed ninth overall in the event.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the experience from the world competition they hope to bring into the Tanzania event. Oryx Rally of Tanzania will have ten stages covering a total competitive distance of 201.6kilometres.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
