Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>SECONDARY school heads and students have been called to join various innovations in order to inspire and groom young scientists and innovators. Simiyu Regional Education Officer Mr Ernest Hinju made the call yesterday during Science Exhibitions held at Bariadi Secondary School, organised by Young Scientists Tanzania (YST).<\/p>\n

\u201cThese exhibitions have enormous contributions in discovering various things, which are beneficial to the society,\u201d Mr Hinju said.<\/p>\n

Earlier, YST Coordinator Hilda Simon said that this year\u2019s exhibitions are organised at the regional level, which involved 12 innovations in physics, chemistry, mathematics, technology, agricultural science , biology, social science and climate science and environment .<\/p>\n

Equally, students from six secondary schools in Simiyu have called upon their colleagues to participate in the exhibitions, noting it is also a forum to network.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the exhibition, they said that the exhibition was aimed at promoting scientific knowledge and innovation to secondary school students in order to encourage scientific and technology development in their midst to address various challenges facing the society.<\/p>\n

A Form Four student at Bariadi Secondary School Sabato Songela said that if more students will take part in the exhibitions, it will help to encourage them to like science subjects and change their mindset that the studies are hard.<\/p>\n

Another student Kija Sayi from Mkula Secondary School said that the exhibition is one of the ways YST use to motivate and encourage more students to pursue science subjects, adding: \u201cThese exhibitions are done annually and bring together students from various schools showcasing their scientific talents.\u201d<\/p>\n

The exhibitions held at regional and national level have been facilitated by various stakeholders, including the Karimjee Jivanjee Foundation (KJF), Shell Tanzania,Institute of Physics (IOP), Songas, Concern Worldwide, Commission for Science and Technology and Vodacom.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
