Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>NEW investors in the communication sector stand a better chance to secure license on time through the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority’s (TCRA) improved Licensing Management System (LMS).<\/p>\n

Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Dr Faustine Ndugulile (MP) and the Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Innocent Bashungwa (MP) launched the On-Line LMS system during a colourful ceremony held in Dar es Salaam.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the launch event, Dr Ndugulile commended TCRA for developing the improved Licensing Management System using local software developers who are TCRA employees.<\/p>\n

He said the LMS will not only improve the quality, but also enhance timely delivery of services.<\/p>\n

The Minister said TCRA drive in systems and software development is commendable as it conforms to Global Transformations ICT Challenges.<\/p>\n

\u201cTCRA initiative is highly appreciated, as it is in line with President Samia Suluhu Hassan\u2019s appeal to improve ICT services to accommodate more investors,\u201d the Minister said, adding that the ICT sector plays a key role as an enabler of other sectors.<\/p>\n

He said as part of a strategy to winning more investors and attracting more local service providers in the communication sector, the government will start using reviewed, reduced new licensing rates and charges by 1st September 2021.<\/p>\n

Dr Ndugulile explained that there are 69 districts with open prospects for New Investors for Broadcast Content Services, mostly in areas close to Tanzania broader areas.<\/p>\n

Licenses offered under the LMS are Individual that include Network Facility License (NFL), Network Services License-(NSL), Application Services License (ASL), and Content Services License-(CSL) that include Radio and Television.<\/p>\n

Some of the key benefits in the improved LMS that has been launched include simplicity in issuance of individual license, cutting over delays down to within 45 days.<\/p>\n

It also enhances accountability at every stage to every party involved, stem-out face to face interaction and eliminate any possible corrupt move that could emanate from direct interaction with the applicant.<\/p>\n

The Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Innocent Bashungwa hailed President Samia for creating a conducive environment for fast growth of the communication sector that encompasses Telecommunication, Broadcasting, Postal and Courier Services in the country.<\/p>\n

He said President Samia has also extended special support to the sports sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Samia\u2019s new funding system to the sports sector is highly appreciated, and we are now witnessing visible fruits as the country\u2019s under 23 Taifa Stars has emerged victorious in the African Continent Championship, which has just ended in Ethiopia\u201d said Minister Bashungwa.<\/p>\n

Welcoming the two ministers, TCRA Director General, Dr Jabiri Bakari expressed gratitude to the ministers for launching and setting into operation the improved Licensing Management System, saying TCRA was determined to open new prospects and investment opportunities in the communication sector.<\/p>\n
