Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>BUGANDO and Kamena Secondary Schools in Geita region have admitted 250 students in their Form Five classes, being the institutions\u2019 first intake after being funded and constructed by GEITA Gold Mining (GGM) three years ago.<\/p>\n

Geita District Council Acting Education and Academic Officer, Navaya Alphonce said the government-owned schools were built by GGM in collaboration with the council at 287.5m\/- through the company\u2019s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt limit the trouble of parents having to take their children far away for further education that can easily be acquired in the area through the investor\u2019s and stakeholders support,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He further said the company\u2019s support to the community schools through the government shows how its CSR is enabling villagers to educate their children with ease.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe student admission is a great achievement for the education sector not only in the district, but countrywide.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe that Bugando and Kamena Schools are good examples of how institutions should grow to absorb students still longing to advance their studies,\u201d Mr Alphonce said yesterday.<\/p>\n

He further said out of 249 students enrolled, they haven\u2019t received any information from any parent requesting the transfer of their children from these schools, because they are well staffed and stocked with books to ease learning as a result of the investor\u2019s support.\u201d<\/p>\n

The schools have good learning environment that will still attract other students, adding that it is their prayer that the institutions will produce future educated leaders.<\/p>\n

Since the amendment of the Mining Act in 2017, GGML has implemented a number of strategic projects in the Geita region through initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the communities surrounding it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
