Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>TANZANIAN Breweries Limited (TBL) has launched a seed to sip campaign showing the company and its owner AB InBev are building a sustainable value chain from raw materials to consumers.<\/p>\n

The TBL Managing Director, Jose Moran said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that by investing in the people and country and taking pride and ownership of every step in its expansive value chain, TBL has managed to bring Tanzanians together to build a stronger, more sustainable economy.<\/p>\n

Therefore, the seed to sip campaign focuses on five stages of the beer-production value chain namely seed and agriculture, watershed, brewery and packaging, logistics and marketing, and sip which refers to the consumer\u2019s responsible enjoyment of TBL\u2019s products.<\/p>\n

At every stage, the partnerships that make value creation possible with farmers, government, suppliers, scientists, non-profits, and consumers are highlighted and celebrated. He said at the first stage everything begins with sourcing topquality ingredients from Tanzania\u2019s dedicated farmers.<\/p>\n

This stage takes place in line with Ab InBev\u2019s first Global Sustainability Goal of Smart Agriculture, which aims to ensure that 100 per cent of our direct farmers are skilled, connected and financially empowered.<\/p>\n

It also positions TBL to play a productive part in the realization of Tanzania\u2019s five-year development plan (FYDP) goals and enhance the productive capacity of Tanzania\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n

TBL sources some 74 per cent of its raw materials locally, and Tanzania\u2019s smallholder farmers are an essential part of TBL\u2019s supply chain.<\/p>\n

The second stage takes place in line with Ab InBev\u2019s second Global Sustainability Goal of Water Stewardship, which aims to ensure that by 2025, 100 per cent of the communities in highstress areas will have measurably improved water availability and quality.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the third stage takes place in line with Ab InBev\u2019s Third Global Sustainability Goal of Circular Packaging, which aims to ensure that by 2025, 100 per cent of our product will be in packaging that is returnable or made from majority recycled content.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have eliminated the use of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) in our packaging, preventing tons of harmful waste from reaching our environment,\u201d Moran said.<\/p>\n

According to him, the fourth stage takes place in line with Ab InBev\u2019s fourth Global Sustainability Goal of Climate Action, which aims to ensure that 100 per cent of the purchased electricity comes from renewable sources and a 25 per cent reduction of carbon emissions across our value chain.<\/p>\n

The last stage is one for which through sports, music and culture, when Tanzanians drink TBL products responsibly, they create moments both every day and extraordinary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
