Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has made a mini cabinet reshuffle, appointing Dr Stergomena Tax as new Defence and Na- tional Service Minister.<\/p>\n

Dr Tax replaces the late Elias Kwandikwa, who passed on early last month. A statement issued yesterday by the Directorate of Presidential Communications said that President Samia has also appointed a new Attorney General.<\/p>\n

The Head of State has appointed three more cabinet ministers, while also revoking the appointment of previous holders of the dockets.<\/p>\n

January Makamba returns to the cabinet as the Minister for Energy, replacing Dr Medard Kalemani, who has served the post since October 2017.<\/p>\n

Makamba, a legislator for Bumbuli constituency, last served in the cabinet in 2019 as Union Affairs and Environment Minister.<\/p>\n

The President has also reinstated Prof Makame Mbarawa as the Minister for Works and Transport, replacing Dr Leonard Chamuriho. Prof Mbarawa worked as the Minister for Works, Transport and Communication between 2015 and 2018.<\/p>\n

His last post was the Minister for Water and Irrigation, a position he served between 2018 and 2020. On the other hand, President Samia has appointed Dr Ashatu Kijaji as the Minister for Communication and Information Technology.<\/p>\n

She replaces Dr Faustine Ndugulile, whose appointment has been revoked. President has also appointed Dr Eliezer Feleshi as new Attorney General, succeeding Prof Adelardus Kilangi, who has been appointed ambassador. Prior to his appointment, Dr Feleshi was the Principal Judge of the High Court of Tanzania.<\/p>\n

All new appointees will be sworn-in at Chamwino State House today. Meanwhile, President Samia Suluhu Hassan has appointed Dr Abdul Rahman Shabani Mwanga as the Commissioner for Minerals.<\/p>\n

Prior to his appointment, Dr Mwanga was the Government\u2019s Chief Inspector of Mines at the Mining Commission. According to a statement issued yesterday by the Directorate of Presidential Communications, Dr Mwanga will be taking over from Eng David Mulabwa.<\/p>\n
