Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>DEPUTY Secretary of the Revolutionary Council Juma Yakuti Juma yesterday led other seven presidential appointees to take oath of office before Zanzibar President Dr Hussein Mwinyi.<\/p>\n

In the exercise, the newly appointed heads in the public service pledged hard work and show exemplary performance in rescuing the islanders out of abject poverty.<\/p>\n

The newly appointed Controller and Auditor General (CAG), Dr Othman Abbas Ali, said he will diligently perform his duties of advising the government on effective revenue collection and expenditure control.<\/p>\n

Dr Othman who had served the office in acting capacity for over a year said wasteful spending is the serious problem that the revolutionary government should address to register real economic development.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m grateful for the appointment to this sensitive post; my pledge is to help the president to achieve his aspirations to serve wananchi,\u201d the newly appointed CAG told reporters soon after taking oath of office at Vuga-based State House. CAG Othman said capacity building for the auditing staff to enable them effectively examine complicated financial statements will be among his top priorities; \u201cOur common goal should be to keep Zanzibar flying, economically,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Assistant Deputy Secretary of Revolutionary Council, Policy, Monitoring and Evaluation Suleiman Ali Suleiman said he had shockingly received the appointment but assured: \u201cI am ready and willing to serve the country.\u201d North Unguja region\u2019s North B District Commissioner (DC) Hamid Seif Said vowed to headon tackle the chronic land disputes in the tourist hub, giving himself three months to transform the district into land conflict-free area.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs per the president\u2019s directives; I\u2019m not going there to serve my personal interest…I will work hard to see justice prevailing to all wananchi in the district,\u201d the newly appointed DC vowed.<\/p>\n

Micheweni DC Mgeni Khatibu Yahya pleaded with Micheweni residents in North Pemba to accord her full cooperation in the struggles for social and economic development in the district.<\/p>\n

The former Wete DC in the same region promised to work hard \u201cto give justice to the president\u2019s trust on my capability to help him in his administration.\u201d Other appointees who took oath were Public Service Commission Executive Secretary Kubingwa Mashaka Simba, Wete DC Dr Hamad Omar Bakar and Mkoani DC Khatibu Juma Mjaja.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
