Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>THE newly-appointed Minister for Information, Communications and Information Technology, Dr Ashatu Kijaji said the government will not tolerate media houses and journalists whose publications endanger national security and create tension in the public.<\/p>\n

Dr Kijaji gave the warning yesterday, barely two days after being sworn in to the new post by President Samia Suluhu Hassan. Dr Kijaji said any information aired or published with an intention to tarnish the country\u2019s image, as well as create tension to the public is uncalled for.<\/p>\n

She gave the remarks when officiating at the training of the ministry\u2019s audit committee, saying that patriotism, hard work; team work spirit should be embraced when exercising their duties.<\/p>\n

Dr Kijaji said scribes must be guided with patriotism to the nation, thus they must publicize information and news that will benefit Tanzanians and have wider national interests.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want journalists to shy away from giving out information which in one way or another will tarnish the image of our nation, I will not tolerate anyone who will choose to tarnish good image of the country,\u201d she cautioned Dr Kijaji said for the ministry to demonstrate the issue of teamwork, its leadership must realign its system in finding the best way to fully accommodate the Information department which has just been introduced in the ministry.<\/p>\n

On the auditing team, she said, they must come up with new ideas and advise the management on best practices. She said they must improve efficiency, competence and accountability as they put patriotism at the forefront in their performance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
