Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>DEPUTY Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Prof James Mdoe has lauded Mto waMbu-Folk Development College (FDC) for playing an instrumental role in equipping youth tourism skills.<\/p>\n

Prof Mdoe, who was speaking after visiting the college mid this week, said he was impressed with the work done by trainers, saying it would help the youth to contribute to the country’s social and economic development.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m quite impressed by the role that FDC is playing, I hope other training centres will emulate,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

Prof Mdoe singled out Mto wa Mbu\u2019s-FDC role in implementing the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS 2016-2021) which seeks to create skilled and competitive workforce for industries with high potential for growth and job creation in the country.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Minister equally challenged the youth to use the knowledge attained from the FDC to unleash their<\/p>\n

potentials in the country\u2019s lucrative tourism sector.<\/p>\n

Prof Mdoe further expressed confidence that the FDC will see the youth thriving in the job market, thanks to their cutting edge advantage.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, the don challenged the FDC Management \u2018to up their game\u2019 in the fields of excellence and skills, as per available demand in the country\u2019s workforce.<\/p>\n

Earlier FDC-Mto waMbu Principal, Arthur Temba informed the Deputy Permanent Secretary that the institution had rolled out the Mto wa MbuUtaliiProgramme.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe train youth to be the most sought after entrepreneurs in the tourism sector, specializing in carvings, selling of beads and other activities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Principal further assured the Deputy Permanent Secretary that the college will use the funds received from the government through the Tanzania Education Authority (TEA) for the intended purposes.<\/p>\n

The training offered at Mto waMbu-FDC Training involves personal development, strengthening capacity for the participants to acquire new knowledge, developing skills to acquire formal employment or self-employment, and continuing their studies after completing the courses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
