Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Tanzania Cereals and Other Produce Board (CPB) plan to spend 200bn\/- for the purchase of 420,000 tonnes of maize for the year 2021\/22.<\/p>\n

The CPB Director General, Dr Anselim Moshi told Daily News in Dodoma over the weekend that an interview that they were well prepared to buy more grain as the grain markets are within the country and abroad.<\/p>\n

“We, as a board, are working to find markets locally and abroad so that our farmers can cultivate more since we have the markets for their products,” said Dr Moshi.<\/p>\n

Dr Moshi said they have found markets abroad to sell various crops including maize, sunflower, rice, wheat, white sorghum and soybean.<\/p>\n

Dr Moshi said they continue to buy other crops where the board has managed to buy all the wheat grown by the farmers for their wheat processing factory in Arusha.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince we have markets for various crops local and foreign no farmer will suffer losses as long as they grow and use modern seeds,\u201d said Dr Moshi.<\/p>\n

Dr Moshi said the board buys maize anywhere for anyone at the market price, since they are doing business they are free to buy maize anywhere and by selling it at a price that will give them a profit.<\/p>\n

“Thank God the government has agreed to give us a letter of no objection of 50bn\/- and yesterday we had a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture and we were given instructions,\u201d said Dr Moshi.<\/p>\n

He said they have planned with the 50bn\/- to use to buy maize especially in Ruvuma, Iringa, Katavi, Songwe and Rukwa regions where maize is plentiful.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
