Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>TANZANIA Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) consider starting using Weholite culverts in a grand move to ensure the construction projects are completed on time.<\/p>\n

Tarura\u2019s Director for Rural Roads Abdul Digaga disclosed the plan over the weekend saying apart from saving time, the Weholite technology is more cost effective in comparison to the traditional concrete culverts.<\/p>\n

Mr Digaga was speaking during a workshop organized by the Placso limited- the manufacturers of thermoplastic pipes that brought together officials from the Ministry of Works and Transport, Tanzania National Roads Agency Tanroads and Tarura.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a new technology that can be used in our construction projects, it is more efficient and cost effective by 30 per cent less, compared to the common ones, the concrete culverts,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Adding, \u201cIn the coming projects, we will be planning to use Weholite technology since it saves time and provides a quick solution especially when it comes to restoring the infrastructures which have been washed away by rain\u201d.<\/p>\n

For her part, a representative from Tanroads Eng Upendo Mshana said the use of the new technology in the infrastructural projects was crucial based on the underlying benefits.<\/p>\n

During the workshop, TANROADS and Tarura managers were provided with an orientation on the value and benefit that Weholite technology can bring to the Tanzanian roads infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Placso Chief Operating Officer Alimiya Osman said the company is dedicated to contributing to technological innovations that will help in building the country\u2019s infrastructure.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Weholite culverts that have just been introduced are being manufactured under a license using a state of art technology from Uponor Infra Oy from Finland,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

The technology has been successfully used and adopted into national standards across countries such as the United Kingdom, USA, Sweden and Finland; with some notable local projects in Tanzania over the last three years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
