Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>IN less than a week, the new Mainland Premier League season begins, raising the hype between clubs as they all plan to pose a challenge in the top-flight title race.<\/p>\n

On different occasions, Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC) and Ruvu Shooting stated yesterday that their teams aim to do well and possibly change history and win the title. The KMC FC, on their hand, revealed they plan to finish the new season in the top three positions.<\/p>\n

The KMC Information Officer confirmed this, Christina Mwangala, hinting they would achieve that goal by winning all home matches and make sure they leave with a point in the away game.<\/p>\n

“We will make sure that we leave with a point in all away games and secure three points in all home games because we have trained well during the pre-season.<\/p>\n

She also noted that they believe any team can clinch the MPL title or finish in the top three, and they are the only contender to eliminate one of the top three dominant teams.<\/p>\n

“We have roped in quality players who will bring an enthusiastic challenge to each encounter and any team that will step in our home ground (Uhuru Stadium) or the away encounter. Our team’s goal is to finish in the top three; we must eliminate one of the three teams, Simba, Young Africans or Azam, who have dominated the top positions for a while now.<\/p>\n

The tournament will be tough this season, and any team can win the title or finish in the top three. One among the team is KMC.”<\/p>\n

On the side of Ruvu Shooting, their Information Officer Masao Bwire asserted they are well prepared for the coming season and determined to end the notion that it’s always Simba or Young Africans who should win the league title.<\/p>\n

“Our goal is to challenge those top clubs that think they have the mandate to become the league champions of this country year after year.<\/p>\n

“In addition, we aim to bring stiff competition within our league and show the world how Tanzanian football has matured. We want to set an example for other clubs that it is possible to compete with Simba and Yanga and then, after our achievement, they follow us.<\/p>\n

“But, unfortunately, some teams think down on themselves that they are probably not mature enough to challenge them and still are participating in the league.”<\/p>\n

Simba are currently the defending champion; they have won the title four in a row.<\/p>\n
