Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>PARENTS have been urged to take up holistic responsibilities of ensuring children get access to education. They\u2019ve been challenged to unearth talents and potentials of their children for the betterment of the country.<\/p>\n

The call has been made by some street children and those from less privileged families.<\/p>\n

Speaking here on Friday, one of the children named as \u2018Celina\u2019 (not a real name), urged parents to help their children understand the value of hard work. \u201cInstead of focusing on grades, they need to encourage children to do their best work and praise them for working hard, which will help their children develop a good mindset,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u2018Celina\u2019 who has since been featured with a world renowned American choir director, gospel singer, Kirk Dewayne Franklin for the rendition of Lean on Me, said it was imperative for parents to recognise these early signs of development in their children and do their best to encourage them to reach their full potential.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very grateful to the organisation of Compassion Tanzania for realising our potential and making it possible for my five colleagues and I to record a video with Franklin,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Compassion Country Director Mary Lema said the six were part of a group of children picked from 25 countries around the world to record the song with the gospel artist.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is part of our programme of grooming the talents of young boys and girls who come from less privileged families to realise their potentials,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

According to Ms Lema, Compassion Tanzania had rolled out the 2020-2022 strategic plan which seeks to reach out to more than five million youth from less privileged families.<\/p>\n

Compassion International is an American child sponsorship and Christian Humanitarian aid organisation working in partnership with 506 churches in Tanzania to give more than 103,242 children the skills, resources and encouragement they need to overcome poverty and fulfill their potential.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
