Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>THE implementation of a multibillion shilling industrial park project at Kurasini area in Temeke District is likely to kick off soon following the allocation of funds this financial year for the undertaking.<\/p>\n

The government has allocated 30bn\/- this financial year to finance the construction of Kurasini Industrial, Trade and Logistics Park project, a task that will be implemented together with the private sector.<\/p>\n

The project, to be located on a six-hectare area in Temeke District in Dar es Salaam, had stalled for eight years. On the part of the government, the Export Processing Zone Authority (EPZA) will implement the project.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the official handover of the land for the project to the EPZA in Dar es Salaam over the weekend, Minister for Industry and Trade Prof Kitila Mkumbo said in the current fiscal year President Samia Suluhu Hassan has already approved 30bn\/- for the project which is expected to be completed in February next year.<\/p>\n

Prof Mkumbo clarified that the project will involve constructions of five major industries which would include agro-processing industries and industries for manufacturing and assembling electronic appliances.<\/p>\n

Other activities will involve construction of an international agricultural and trade centre, warehouses for conserving vegetables products in the cold room and One Stop Service Centre.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will serve as an International Trade Centre; there will be all services available within the area such as issuance of visa, passport, export permits and many others. So, I ask for cooperation from all key stakeholders in making this important project possible for our country,\u201d he appealed.<\/p>\n

He said the process to find strategic investors and developers has already been completed.<\/p>\n

He revealed the names of five companies that have selected from the private sector as DP World (Dubai, UAE), Elsewedy (Egypt), Agility (Dubai, UAE), Galco (Tanzania) and Shanghai Lingang Group Co. Ltd. (China).<\/p>\n

Prof Mkumbo insisted that the government\u2019s main task is to create an enabling environment including construction of roads, water infrastructure, electricity and the wall fence surrounding the area, a task which is expected to begin soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
