Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Tanzania is set to purchase in five more new aircraft by 2023 as the East African nation plans to invest more in aviation industry to boost tourism sector and uplift the economy.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the Abeid Aman Karume International Airport in Zanzibar on Friday when he was receiving two air buses A220-300 branded \u2018Zanzibar\u2019 and \u2018Tanzanite\u2019 respectively, Zanzibar Hussein Ali Mwinyi said that the government intends to own 16 which will help to boost tourism sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cAirline owns eleven modern aircraft; among them are Bombardier Dash 8Q400, Bombardier CS 300 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Our aim is to enable ATCL to have 16 aircraft by 2023 and plans to purchase the crafts are underway,\u201d President Mwinyi said.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026In the Chama cha Mapinduzi manifesto 2025, we promised to strengthen transport sector by building modern infrastructure\u2026this is a reason of why we have made great efforts in strengthening our airports, ports, roads and railways,\u201d Dr Mwinyi said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Dr Mwinyi revealed his government\u2019s plans to turn Pemba Island into a special investment destination.<\/p>\n

On his side, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa said the newly purchased aircrafts will increase both national and international flights.<\/p>\n
