Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>MINISTER for Agriculture Professor Adolf Mkenda is expected to launch the Tanzania’s version of the World Food Day, which is expected to take place at the National level in Kilimanjaro region.<\/p>\n

World Food Day is observed on October 16, every year to tackle global hunger and strive to eradicate hunger across the world, whereby this year in Tanzania, the occasion will be marked on national level in Kilimanjaro region.<\/p>\n

In presser to explain the 2021 occasion themed ‘Our actions are our future- Better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life’ the Kilimanjaro Regional Commissioner (RC) Mr Stephen Kagaigai, said that the launching of the occasion is expected to take place tomorrow at the Nelson Mandela grounds, located in Pasua area, within Moshi Municipality.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been accorded the honour to organize this occasion at national level; the launch will take place on October 10, 2021 and its culmination will be held during the World Food Day celebrations scheduled for October 16, 2021,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

He said that the Kilimanjaro Regional leadership would work with the Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries in running the occasion, whereby, there would be events which he said would be performed as part of the celebrations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere will be exhibitions of a variety of foods including traditional ones, tree planting to improve the environment, as well as nutritional related competitions that will involve students from various schools,\u201d Mr Kagaigai said.<\/p>\n

He also said that there would be an event of its kind that would involve a plate with healthy food \u2018A Healthy Plate\u2019 been taken by climbers to the Uhuru peak, the highest peak on Mount Kilimanjaro, which is the tallest mountain in Africa.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere will also be competitions of poems and songs on nutrition in parallel with the exercise of distributing and drinking milk in schools,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mr Kagaigai appealed to the people of Kilimanjaro Region to attend the event.<\/p>\n

He further added that during the celebrations, all precautions relating to the prevention of Covid-19 infections will be taken, in which, he urged members of the public to adhere to all instructions regarding such precautions as directed by health experts and the government in general.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
