Making the revelation during a consultative workshop for the Chairpersons of the University Councils and Chairpersons of Governing Boards of Universities, ViceChancellors and Principals\/Provosts in Tanzania in Dar es Salaam, recently, Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Vocational Training Prof Joyce Ndalichako further said it is the responsibility of the institutions to see into it that they groom professionals, who are employable after studies.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must sustain our economic status and aim higher than this\u2026 this will only be possible when you (universities) produce graduates who are employable and able to tackle challenges, which might back-peddle growth. \u201cIt is you Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) as a body corporate established on the 1st July 2005, under the Universities Act 2005 (Chapter 346 of the Laws of Tanzania) to recognise, approve, register and accredit Universities operating in Tanzania to foster a harmonised higher education system in the country capable of addressing setbacks to the country\u2019s economic growth,\u201d she pointed out.<\/p>\n

However, the minister cautioned them against delaying loans to students after reporting to start classes, adding that such delay demoralizes them, yet the country depends on them as future workforce.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
