Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has wished Taifa Stars all the best in their Group J two remaining matches of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers to do well and make it to Qatar where the finals will be held.<\/p>\n

Tanzania cleared their path of possible qualification for the biggest football showdown in the world after claiming a crucial 1-0 away win against Benin at Stade de I’Amitie in Cotonou, Benin.<\/p>\n

An early first half goal by striker Simon Msuva was enough to give Stars maximum three points on the day and rose to the summit of the table with seven points with two more games to be played before ending the group stage. The outcome thrilled the head of state who took it to her official Instagram account where she expressed her happiness for the good job done by her men in a foreign territory.<\/p>\n

She wrote: “I am happy with the 1-0 win of Taifa Stars against Benin. I congratulate players, technical bench and TFF for coordinated efforts to win the match.<\/p>\n

“I wish them all the best in their remaining fixtures for Tanzania to qualify to Qatar for the world cup next year.”<\/p>\n

On his part, Msuva who killed the match on the day said teamwork was the main ingredient which enabled them to source the vital victory and rekindle hopes of reaching at the Promised Land.<\/p>\n

“It was a good match and this result is for the Tanzanians, technical bench and we players. I know many people at home were praying hard for us to get this win so we are proud of them.<\/p>\n

“The big thing for us is that we play as a team and with instructions we get from coaches, we thrive to give it all for the sake of generating convincing results to all Tanzanians since we work for them,” Msuva said.<\/p>\n

He then called on prayers for the team to continue throughout their group stage encounters while insisting that qualifying for the world cup is not yet over but possible.<\/p>\n

His trainer Kim Poulsen narrated that it was a difficult match but they fully deserved to win saying the tactical changes they made was the turning point for the important three points.<\/p>\n

“I released the three strikers so that they can fully concentrate on attacking and not defending something which really worked better for us.<\/p>\n

Even my defensive line was able to win many aerial balls than we did at home,” he said. Again, Poulsen said one thing he always have in his mind is the regret for not winning the first leg match here as he repeatedly pointed out that they fully deserved to stamp triumph on the day.<\/p>\n

He also said he is looking forward to the next home game against DR Congo of which he said he wants the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium to be full house so that people can be part of the big football experience.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
