Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>AS international airlines increasingly extend scheduled flights to Zanzibar, authorities have reassured safety standard services as per the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) guidelines and requirements.<\/p>\n

The assurance was made by Mr Fadhil Juma Ali, Director General (DG) of the Zanzibar Airports Authority (ZAA), and Ms Aviwa Issa Makame, Director of planning & tourism development, Commission for Tourism, at the Edelweiss inaugural flight at the Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (AAKIA).<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been improving our airport and services to maintain our reputation. But we also welcome constructive criticism and suggestions so that we can further improve because we value the decision of airlines to include Zanzibar in their schedule program,\u201d Mr Ali said.<\/p>\n

After the landing of Edelweiss Airbus A340 from Kilimanjaro International Airport, for the first time from Zurich, Ms Makame said \u201cWe are prepared to receive more flights as it was before the Covid-19 pandemic. We have strengthened partnership with the private sector to provide the best services.\u201d Mr Pascal Moser- Attache\u2019 of Swiss Embassy in Dar es Salaam was at the reception and praised the Zanzibar government for improving the environment for investors and tourists, \u201cMore airlines and visitors from the Swiss may be attracted to visit Zanzibar, and 50 Swiss citizens living in Zanzibar will have easy connection to their home.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Dr Andre\u2019 Schulz- General Manager, Lufthansa Group (Southern Africa & East Africa) said the Edelweiss Airbus A340 will be making flights to Zanzibar via Kilimanjaro twice a week from Zurich (Switzerland) to Tanzania.<\/p>\n

He said that flies to the most beautiful destinations worldwide, \u201cWith Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar, we now have two new holiday destinations on offer, which perfectly complement our range on the African continent and enable our guests from Switzerland and Europe to enjoy unforgettable travel experiences.\u201d<\/p>\n

Edelweiss will be flying from Zurich to Kilimanjaro and on to Zanzibar every Tuesday and Friday from last Saturday until the end of March next year. The route will be operated with an Airbus A340 which offers a total of 314 seats.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
