Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>WITH support from the Universal Communications Service Access Fund (UCSAF) in bringing telecommunication in rural areas, the mobile company, Viettel Tanzania (Halotel), has vowed to invest more in the provision of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services.<\/p>\n

The company made a pledge yesterday as it marked the 6th anniversary of its operations in Tanzania.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur next big investment is in the provision of ICT services to make sure that people with smartphones in rural Tanzania can browse the web and communicate efficiently\u201d, Halotel Deputy Managing Director Justus Kashashari noted yesterday at a press conference in Dar es Salaam.<\/p>\n

He said the investment was also intended to increase subscribers from the current seven million to 10 million by 2023.<\/p>\n

He said on average Halotel registers slightly above a million subscribers annually.<\/p>\n

Recently, according to the Tanzania Communication Regulatory Authority (TCRA) report of the second quarter of the year 2021, Halotel had attained more than 7 million telecom subscriptions by June, 2021.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the next two years, we are planning to invest more in network infrastructure upgrading, increasing service quality, expanding the coverage and the focus is to invest more on 4G network facilities countrywide to meet the growing demand from the public as today\u2019s the world is hungry for digital experiences,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Another area of focus will be to increase Halopesa customers to five million from current 2.3 million subscribers.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that Halotel had already started to roll out fourth generation (4G) services in most areas in the country and has built more new 4G Base Transmission Stations (BTS) and doubled the number compared to the previous.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith 4G service, Halotel\u2019s subscribers who are still using 3G simcards they can now swap their line into 4G for free and get a Bonus<\/p>\n

of 4GB internet data to use for three (3) days to the best experience when using the internet\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

While appreciating the customers for continued support of choosing the company’s network, he further said the company has ambitions to keep on providing the best services and bring out the outermost experience on mobile phone services in the country.<\/p>\n
