Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa said the government commitment in motivating and developing sports has begun to pay off as evidenced through the success of Tanzanian sportsmen and women in the national and international events.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Awards gala in Dar es Salaam on Thursday night, The Prime Minister said sports will develop further under President Samia Suluhu Hassan whose 6th phase government values all sports while it insists to make them bring fortunes to the country and sportsmen and women.<\/p>\n

During the gala, the PM assured sports stakeholders of the government\u2019s support to all sports including football.<\/p>\n

\u201cSamia Suluhu Hassan, our President assures you that her government is committed to develop all sports and it will empower them, especially football to make it produce quality players and teams,\u201d said the PM in his statement.<\/p>\n

In retrospect the PM has directed the Director of Sports Yusuph Singo to ensure teams that represent Tanzania in various international tournaments are facilitated. During the event, it was Simba who dominated the TFF Awards gala by clinching most of the prizes at Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC).<\/p>\n

Skipper John Bocco was voted the Best Player of last season beating his former teammate Clatous Chama and Young Africans midfielder Mukoko Tonombe who were shortlisted for probably the highest award in football.<\/p>\n

Moreover, Bocco was awarded the golden boot award after topping the scoring chart of the past campaign with 16 goals to his name thereby adding important details to his professional CV.<\/p>\n

His shot stopper Aishi Manula lifted the Best Goalkeeper award after defeating two other contenders Harun Mandanda (Mbeya City) and Jeremiah Kisubi (Tanzania Prisons). He also went home with the Best Goalkeeper prize for Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC) beating two other goalies James Ssetuba (Biashara United) and former Young Africans shot stopper Farouk Shikalo.<\/p>\n

Manula has been an outstanding goalkeeper in the country no wonder he is included in the best ten top goalies on the continent and above all, he is the national team Taifa Stars keeper.<\/p>\n

As if this was not enough, Simba\u2019s left back Mohamed Hussein was presented with the Best Defender award after outclassing his teammate Shomari Kapombe and Young Africans centre back Dickson Job.<\/p>\n

Their Head Coach Didier Gomes stood tall to pocket the Best Coach Accord over George Lwandamina (Azam) and Francis Baraza (Kagera Sugar). He (Gomes) dedicated the award to Simba players, his fellow technical bench members, fans and the club\u2019s sponsor Mohamed Dewji (Mo) for the confidence they gave him.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, seven Simba players were included in the best 2020\/21 squad whose first eleven comprised the following: Aishi Manula (Simba), Mohamed Hussein (Simba), Joash Onyango (Simba) and Shomari Kapombe (Simba).<\/p>\n

Others are Dickson Job (Yanga), Mukoko Tonombe (Yanga), Feisal Salum (Yanga), Clatous Chama (Simba), Prince Dube (Azam) and Louis Miquissone (Simba).<\/p>\n

Yanga\u2019s Feisal Salum was voted the Best Player of Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC) after stunning John Bocco (Simba) and former Simba player Louis Miquissoine.<\/p>\n

The Best Fans Mobilisation Award went to Bongo Zozo who overpowered the former Simba Information Officer Haji Manara and Ruvu Shooting Communication Officer Massau Bwire.<\/p>\n

Tanzania Prison\u2019s Lambart Sabiyanka was awarded the Best Goal of the season prize for his spectacular long range goal he scored versus Mwadui at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Sumbawanga.<\/p>\n
