Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>NATURAL Resources and Tourism Minister Damas Ndumbaro has launched five projects that will stimulate tourism at Swagaswaga game reserve located in Chemba and Kondoa districts, Dodoma region.<\/p>\n

The projects, implemented by the Tanzania Wildlife Authority (TAWA), are newly built office building for wildlife conservators, hostel for guests and tourists, houses for conservators and water well installed with a modern pump.<\/p>\n

The projects will not only motivate tourism but also help communities surrounding the Swagaswaga game reserve access clean and safe water.<\/p>\n

Speaking when officially launching the projects, Dr Ndumbaro commended the management and board of directors of the TAWA for such a good move.<\/p>\n

Upon launching the projects, the minister also went on planting trees near the newly built office building.<\/p>\n

Swagaswaga Game Reserve was establised in 1996 in Chemba and Kondoa districts in Dodoma Region, central part of Tanzania.<\/p>\n

Most part of this game reserve constitute of thickets and scattered shrubs which are home of various animal species including elephant, duiker, warthog and antelopes.<\/p>\n

Swaga Swaga also contains 102 lions, and since Tanzania has the most lions in Africa,[2] Swaga Swaga has almost 0.6 per cent of Tanzania’s sighted lions.<\/p>\n

In 2017, the TAWA began an exercise to relocate many animal species from other reserves to improve fauna diversity. In this authority saw a great chance for the development of tourism and the promotion of Swaga Swaga.<\/p>\n

In February 2021, Polish archaeologist from Jagiellonian University announced the discovery of ancient rock art with anthropomorphic figures in a good condition at the Amak\u2019hee 4 rockshelter site within the game reserve.<\/p>\n

Paintings made with a reddish dye also contained buffalo heads, giraffe’s head and neck, domesticated cattle dated back to about several hundred years ago.<\/p>\n

Archaeologists estimated that these paintings can describe a ritual of the Sandawe people.<\/p>\n
