Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>AFTER being knocked out of the 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifiers, Twiga Stars Head Coach Bakari Shime has apologised for the setback saying they will get it right next time.<\/p>\n

The country’s envoys suffered a 3-2 reverse leg defeat to Namibia at Dobsonville Stadium in South Africa after another 2-1 downfall they succumbed in the first leg match at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.<\/p>\n

On aggregate, Namibia cruised to the next round with a 5-3 win thereby making the journey of the country’s side to end prematurely at a time when Tanzanians wanted to see them going far in the contest.<\/p>\n

Speaking after the game, Shime was quick to apologise to Tanzanians whom he said had big hopes that his side was going to stamp good results in the return match.<\/p>\n

“The results we have recorded in the reverse match are not what we anticipated as such, let me take this opportunity to apologise to all Tanzanians who wanted to see their team going forward. “This year, our trip to earn a ticket for the AWCON competition has ended here but I have to say that we have learned many things which will help us to do much better in the future,” said Shime.<\/p>\n

He continued: “In football, when you fall, the best option is to stand up and move on. We thrive on our part to create a strong competitive team to do us proud but these women need a helping hand too in order to uplift their morale.” On her part, the team’s Assistant Coach Edna Lema took it to her Instagram page where she also encouraged her players not to look down but aim high.<\/p>\n

“Nothing stays forever. Good and bad times come and go. You have fought according to your abilities but it was not our moment. We wanted it but God is the one who plans everything. “We need to be thankful for what we have achieved and we need to look ahead to do well in other upcoming competitions,” she wrote.<\/p>\n

Namibia’s playmaker Zenatha Coleman scored a hat-trick in their 3-2 win in South Africa and she also netted a brace when they silenced Twiga Stars 2-1 in the city hence all the five goals have been fired by her.<\/p>\n

She really had a fantastic performance in the two legged battle no wonder she plays her professional football with Spain’s Sevilla women football team as she succeeded to carry the weight of the match on her shoulders.<\/p>\n
