Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>THE government has paid tribute to technologies company, Huawei, for training public officials from different ministries on ICTs, saying the training was vital for development and transformation in the country.<\/p>\n

The kudos were given in Dodoma yesterday by Permanent Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Information, Communications and Information Technology, Zainab Chaula during a training to several officials responsible for the ICT department from different ministries.<\/p>\n

“I would like to commend Huawei for continuing working together with the government especially on providing training on ICT issues for the country’s digital economy,” said the PS.<\/p>\n

According to Dr Chaula, the government was very clear when it comes to ICTs and that President Samia Suluhu Hassan was committed to seeing the sector playing a crucial role in the national development.<\/p>\n

According to her, for the government to realise its ambitious industrialisation agenda by 2025, the ministry was ensuring that ICTs broadband connectivity countrywide was highly considered.<\/p>\n

“We need ICT skills development, cyber safety, as well as promotion of local content through ICT research and Innovation activities. To achieve this, a lot needs to be done including to make sure that the country has a lot of expertise that is why this initiative by Huawei is encouraging,” she added.<\/p>\n

Dr Chaula said that digital economy in Tanzania had contributed to better service delivery, efficiency in revenue collection, enhancement of management of human capital and creation of employment.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a similar event, Huawei Tanzania Deputy Managing Director, Tom Tao said during the ongoing training his company would discuss with officials from the ministry on how to reach out to people in the rural areas so that they can also contribute to the national development brought ICT.<\/p>\n

“On markets we want to see how we can increase the network to allow Tanzania to access the international markets instead on concentration on local markets alone,” said Mr Tom.<\/p>\n
