Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>WITH the changing technology, there is need to use more innovation for youths to access Sexual and Reproduction Health (SRH).<\/p>\n

This was said recently by Sahara Ventures Chief Strategist, Adam Mbyallu in Dar es Salaam during the launch of Sahara Sparks, a weeklong platform of activities, which among other things discussed the future of doing business.<\/p>\n

He said that the development sector is changing very quickly, and innovation is becoming the central ingredient in any development intervention.<\/p>\n

He said that to accelerate progress in complex sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) issues, particularly in this era, it requires innovative solutions with an entrepreneurial mindset, which they implement through AMUA Innovation Accelerator.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince its inception, the Innovative Accelerator Initiatives have been implemented by UNFPA in partnership with Sahara Sparks and in collaboration with the government of Tanzania through the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, and the Ministry of Communication and Technology,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said the need for digital solutions and applied technologies as enablers for breakthrough solutions cannot be overstated, saying that if they are applied strategically, they can unlock once unimaginable potential to address society\u2019s complex economic, social and environmental challenges while propelling the country to its destiny of prosperity for all.<\/p>\n

On his part, the Sahara Ventures Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Jumanne Mtambalike said that the theme for this year\u2019s Sahara Sparks, \u201cFuture Reimagined\u201d, is timely, adding that with all the challenges facing the world, and Africa in particular, and all the opportunities presented by the massive technological advancements, it\u2019s high time the country reimagined its future.<\/p>\n

He said that to encourage innovation in the health sector, for six months they worked and accelerated ten startups (social enterprises), where four startups emerged winners and managed to receive technical support, seed funds, and launched their products to the market.<\/p>\n

One of the beneficiaries, Salum Mauga, the Co-founder of Frendlicom, said that since they received the seed fund from Amua Accelerator, they have developed a platform that instantly translates sign languages to text speech and vice versa to assist healthcare workers in communication with people with disabilities.<\/p>\n
