Marking the world annual Safety Day in Dar es Salaam, recently Vivo Energy Group reinforced the importance of Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality (HSSEQ) as traits to be considered by an employer at workplace.<\/p>\n

Vivo Energy, a Pan-African retailer and marketer for fuels and lubricants, used the Safety Day as an opportunity for employees and contractors to be ambassadors of reinforcing the importance of the traits.<\/p>\n

Vivo Energy Group HSSEQ Head Grant Bairstow further said this year\u2019s theme \u2018Competent + Prepared = Safer\u2019 involved other stakeholders as employers recording examples of visible safety leadership how should be implemented at the workplace.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, over 1,200 entries were submitted across a range of categories including environment, health, product quality, reputation, safety and security as also leading qualities to be given priority at the workplace,\u201d Mr Bairstow said:<\/p>\n

\u201cI am delighted to report we have continued to perform well against all odds to success in our key HSSEQ indicators this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to employees sharing examples of visible safety leadership, each market has developed a program of activities to remind employees to focus on HSSEQ, culminating in physical and virtual events.<\/p>\n

Vivo Energy Tanzania Managing Director Khady Sene said the company has partnered with Tanzania Police Force\u2014Traffic Division prompting them to conduct road safety trainings in 10 filing stations in Dar es Salaam.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur ultimate ambition is to achieve a world-class safety culture, where HSSEQs are fully integrated into the ways of working for all parties at Vivo Energy,\u201d Ms Sene said.<\/p>\n

The filling stations were Engen Mikocheni, Masaki, Pugu, Kipunguni, Vijibweni, Mwembeyanga, Goba, Mbezi Beach, Ubungo and Bunju.<\/p>\n

The exercise was also extended to bodaboda taxi riders, who were given reflector jackets and reminded on the importance of wearing them as well as safe riding on the roads.<\/p>\n
