Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan is today starting a three-day state visit to Egypt in response to the invitation by her Egyptian counterpart Abdel Al Sisi.<\/p>\n

During her visit, President Samia and her host are expected to hold talks on different areas of cooperation that the two countries enjoy.<\/p>\n

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Directorate of Presidential Communications, President Samia and her host will also witness the signing of one contract and 7 Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) on bilateral ties.<\/p>\n

The two countries share a common interest in diplomacy, economy, politics, education, tourism and social services. This becomes the fourth state visit President Samia is undertaking since being swornin as the country\u2019s top office in March this year. Already, she has visited Kenya, Burundi and Rwanda.<\/p>\n

The Head of State has also made working visits to Uganda, Malawi and Zambia. In a bid to cement further the multilateral cooperation between Tanzania and other international communities, President Samia has also attended the United General Security Assembly (UNGA) in New York in the United States and the recent UN Climate Cover your mouth when sneezing Wash your hands with water and soap\/ sanitizer Avoid contact with sick people Don\u2019t touch your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands Covid-19 Prevention Wear face mask to protect yourself and others Keep objects and surfaces clean Change Summit (COP26) held in Glasgow, Scotland.<\/p>\n

In August 2017 the Egyptian President visited Tanzania, to strengthen and nurture the good relationship in diplomacy, economy and social affairs the two countries enjoy. Egypt is one of the African countries with huge economy in Africa. Going by the 2016 statistics, the northern African country had a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 266.231 US dollars.<\/p>\n

Big sectors in its economy are industry services such as bank services, communications, transportation and tourism that contribute 36.3 per cent and agriculture 11.2 per cent in the GDP. Going by statistics of 2018, trade volume between the two countries increased to 107bn\/- up from 74bn\/- that was recorded in 2011.<\/p>\n

By then, the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) had registered a total of 8 Egyptian companies with a capital of 887.02 million US dollars, contributing to about 953 jobs.<\/p>\n

According to a statement by President Sisi\u2019s spokesman released three months ago, the Egyptian Head of State agreed to support the construction of Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project (JNHPP) in accordance with the world class and serve as a leading model for constructive cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n

JNHPP is undertaken by a consortium of Egyptian companies including the Arab contractor\u2019s company and El Sewedy Electric under the supervision of the Egyptian government. President Sisi also directed Egyptian senior government officials concerned to pay regular visits to the project site across the Rufiji River in Eastern Tanzania, and follow up work progress in coordination with Tanzanian peers.<\/p>\n

The largest in the East African Community, the dam is expected to produce 2115 Megawatts to be added to the national grid.<\/p>\n

It will also help in controlling floods and improving agriculture at the lower Rufiji Valley and as well becoming a permanent storage of about 34 billion cubic meters of water in an artificial lake, to be used for agricultural and aquaculture purposes, while protecting wildlife in the largest nature reserve in Africa.<\/p>\n
