Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>The US Ambassador to Tanzania, Mr Donald Wright, has encouraged Tanzanian women to apply for small grants offered by the U.S. African Development Foundation for success and sustainability of their businesses.<\/p>\n

Mr Wright made the call on Monday during the ‘2021 Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) graduation’ at St Augustine University of Tanzania (SAUT), saying empowering women is the ideal means to positively change society.<\/p>\n

AWE is a programme designed and sponsored by the US government as part of its commitment to support women entrepreneurs worldwide.<\/p>\n

Gracing the event, the Ambassador said the training gave the participants practical skills to create sustainable businesses.<\/p>\n

“Presence of women entrepreneurs is a sign that women could also utilize opportunities in society. Each one of you has to be a role model of other women, and you can motivate other women to grow their businesses too,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He challenged the graduates to think of how they will become great Tanzanian entrepreneurs as well as how they would help Tanzanian women realize their dreams.<\/p>\n

The Ambassador stressed that women, when they succeed, can bring multiple effects to the communities because they usually spend their earnings on family needs, such as paying for children\u2019s school fees, healthcare service and others.<\/p>\n

Mwanza Regional Commissioner (RC), Engineer Robert Gabriel welcomed the graduates to visit his office specifically to know all investment opportunities available in Mwanza.<\/p>\n

According to him, fish cage farming was among the newly introduced investments, calling upon graduates to grab such an opportunity.<\/p>\n

SAUT Vice Chancellor, Prof Costa Mahalu, also urged the graduates to counsel women in their communities on how to do their businesses professionally.<\/p>\n

“Again, you have been trained on accountability, which is the most important ingredient for bringing development at work and business,” he said.<\/p>\n
