Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>MEMBERS of the Parliamentary Committee on Constitution and Legal Affairs have nodded to the project of construction of office building for the Occupational Safety and Health Authority (OSHA) after learning about its quality and costs.<\/p>\n

The committee observed that the construction of the new building has observed quality with reasonable costs whereby 4.8bn\/- was spent instead of 6.56bn\/- as budgeted earlier.<\/p>\n

The members of the committee inspected the building after holding a brief meeting for hearing presentation from the OSHA over implementation of the project.<\/p>\n

Speaking separately during an interview, the committee members admitted to have been satisfied with the project, saying it observed construction procedures and standards.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had in the past inspected several buildings but let me say that this one is different, members have been satisfied. So let me congratulate OSHA for the job well done under supervision of the ministry in the Prime Minister\u2019s Office (Policy, Parliamentary Affairs, Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disability),\u201d stated Mr Emmanuel Mwakasaka, a member of the committee.<\/p>\n

Another member of the committee, Ms Ng\u2019wasi Kamani said one of the committee\u2019s responsibilities is to oversee institutions under the Prime Minister\u2019s office, including OSHA.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday we have visited this building whereby we have learnt that it construction has taken short period to complete and we are happy to hear that the money used is lower than budgeted but with high standards,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

On her part, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister\u2019s Office in charge of people with disabilities, Ms Ummy Ndeliananga, said the government was proud of the successes from the project which has saved over 650m\/-.<\/p>\n

Chief Executive Officer of the OSHA, Ms Khadija Mwenda, said the project was implemented for eight months from August last year to April this year.<\/p>\n

She said apart from constructing the building within a short period and low cost, they adhered to laws and regulations governing the construction sector as well as observing standards and security.<\/p>\n

The building has been constructed by the local construction company of Estim Construction Co. Ltd under consultancy of Ardhi University.<\/p>\n
