Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>KEMILEMBE Mutahaba from Tanzania House of Talent (THT) has been elected the first Chairperson of The Creative and Culture industry Skills Council(CISSC).<\/p>\n

She was elected during the Creative and Culture Skills Member Induction workshop conducted in Bagamoyo over the weekend by Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF).<\/p>\n

Speaking at the event, TPSF\u2019s director of Programmes, Damas Mugashe said the formation of CISSC and appointing competent leader like Mutahaba will stimulate the implementation of National<\/p>\n

Skills Development Strategy (NSDS) in the creative industry which includes advertising, marketing, architecture, designs, film, TV production, radio, cartoonists and photographing.<\/p>\n

\u201cCreative Industry is one of the most important sectors that generate income and reduce unemployment. TPSF is happy to accommodate such an important sector and will work closely with the elected chairperson to assist the sector to be formal, have access to finance and markets,\u201d Mugashe said<\/p>\n

Adding, he said TPSF is working closely with the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports to support the mission of CISSC with the financial support of UNESCO.<\/p>\n

For her part, the acting director of Arts Development from the Tanzania Arts Council, Bona Masenge, said the move intends to build the capacity of Tanzanian artists so as to make them increase their income and contribute to national development.<\/p>\n

According to her, young people will be in a good position to develop their creative works by being mentored on what to do and how to do it.<\/p>\n

Apart from TPSF, other members of the CISSC are from the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports institutions which includes National Arts Council of Tanzania (BASATA), The Copyright Society of Tanzania (COSOTA), Tanzania film board<\/p>\n

Others are from institutions which are under the ministry of education, science and technology. They include Vocational Education Training Authority (VETA) Taasisi ya Sanaa Bagamoyo (TASUBA) , The University of Dar Salaam (UDSM).<\/p>\n

For the private sector, the members forming part of CISSC are Tanzania House of Talent (THT) and Hakielimu.<\/p>\n
