Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>THE government has challenged graduates to use the skills acquired in exploring immense opportunities to create self-employment instead of looking for wage employment.<\/p>\n

The government data showed 800,000 fresh graduates enter the labour market from various high learning institutions every year which is too high for the available opportunities.<\/p>\n

The government employs merely 40,000 graduates.<\/p>\n

The Minister for Industry and Trade, Prof Kitila Mkumbo, thus, advised graduates to think outside the box and start their own business instead of wasting time looking for public or private sectors\u2019 employment.<\/p>\n

\u201cEmployment opportunities in the government are very limited and we have thousands of graduates every year so the important thing is be innovative and start your own business.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no employment but there are many opportunities you can do by using the skills you have acquired at college,\u201d said Prof Mkumbo when officiating College of Business Education (CBE) 56th graduation ceremony held in Dar es Salaam.<\/p>\n

The professor for education challenged the college to introduce business training for the students, provide short courses for none students and conduct researches which will solve some challenges in business sector.<\/p>\n

The entrepreneurship skills, Prof Mkumbo said, need innovation and participation from others so that it becomes easy to reach the intended goals adding that there are abundant opportunities like lakes, ocean, rivers, minerals and natural resources which can be used to create wealth.<\/p>\n

Also, the minister, who CBE is under his docket, said the government recognises the infrastructure challenges they are facing but plans are underway to solve them so that the college functions smoothly.<\/p>\n

The CBE Rector, Prof Emanuel Mjema, said apart from the rising number of courses at the college, they have continued with their development plan to ensure that the college becomes number one in providing business education among the country\u2019s universities.<\/p>\n

The Rector said their curriculum based on the market demand while further educating their lecturers to acquire today\u2019s knowledge and cope with the market needs.<\/p>\n

CBE has 35 lecturers with PhDs and have sponsored 43 others to pursue PhD studies and other 11 for masters\u2019 level.<\/p>\n

However, Prof Mjema told the minister the college face research fund challenge hence limiting its research capability.<\/p>\n
