Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>PROGRESS has been made ready for a start of construction of a modern golf course in the country\u2019s capital Dodoma.<\/p>\n

Tanzania People\u2019s Defense Forces (TPDF) Chief of Staff, Lt Gen Mathew Mkingule confirmed in Dar es Salaam recently that Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Venance Mabeyo has already formed a team to oversee the construction work.<\/p>\n

He said that the course will be constructed in parallel with the modern Five Star Hotel in the capital so as to give an opportunity for visitors who play there to experience and enjoy the beautiful scenario of Dodoma.<\/p>\n

The Chief of Staff said the TPDF has committed to promote sports that include golf with the aim of providing opportunities to people to participate in sports, promote Tanzania through sports as well as putting the nation into the global spotlight.<\/p>\n

However, Mkingule called on other stakeholders to chip in the construction of the course\u2019s infrastructure so as to speed up the work. \u201cWe call on other public and private institutions to come forward and contribute to the infrastructure with the main intention of promoting our nation and its famous attractions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said sports have a great and important role to play in promoting the nation so the time has come to participate together in achieving that.<\/p>\n

The Dodoma course which, he said, will be followed by construction in other regions will be the second to be done by the TPDF since after that of Lugalo in Dar es Salaam.<\/p>\n

Mkingule also advised the Lugalo club leadership to review the membership fees of the club.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe chairman of Lugalo (Michael Luwongo) reviewed the membership fee with the aim of providing opportunities for more people to afford and participate in sports for health well-being,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mkingule added that the Army is not aiming for profit so it will continue to simplify procedures and cooperate well with the community as that is the People\u2019s Army.<\/p>\n

He also commended the leadership of the Lugalo Club for the great efforts they are making from the programme to visualize and develop talent for young players and organize competitions.<\/p>\n

Lugalo Chairman Luwongo also thanked the CDF and Mkingule and the army leadership in general for their co-operation whenever they needed help.<\/p>\n

Luwongo said his club is ready to partner with the Dodoma course team and provide coaches when it is completed.<\/p>\n
