Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan called on citizens on Thursday to start a nationwide prayer for rains amid weeks of delayed rains that have disturbed both electricity and clean water supply.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Bugando Zonal Referral Hospital, the president said the prayers will start at the ceremony and proceed to other areas.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere their religious leaders, demons disappear,\u201d she said at the historical event attended by various religious leaders. Even Though, it never took long before it started raining at the place.<\/p>\n

This is not the first time leaders in the country call for prayers. Late President John Magufuli led the nation when he declared a three-days of prayer to defeat respiratory diseases notably coronavirus when the country witnessed a deadly resurgence in infections.<\/p>\n

President Samia explained that water and power rationing are currently recorded in various places across the country as a result of human-related reasons that had disturbed rain patterns.<\/p>\n

She was optimistic that the rationing will be eased soon, thanks to the ongoing operations taking place in some basins including Ruvu.<\/p>\n

She directed authorities to discharge their duties diligently to save the basins by intensifying securities in order to stop invaders.<\/p>\n

Some of religious leaders and denominations attended the events were Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania (ELCT), Dr Fredrick Shoo, Wapo Mission International Bishop Sylvester Gamanywa, Rev Anthony Lusekelo, Sheikh Musa Yusuf Kundecha from the Council of Islamic Community and Institutions, Mufti Abubakar Zuber and others from Catholic Church.<\/p>\n
