Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has urged ruling party CCM leaders at the grassroots level to encourage social and economic development among the people in their areas.<\/p>\n

President Samia made the call when speaking on phone with the Chairperson of CCM branch at Kamunyika Ward, Kasulu District in Kigoma Region, Mr Juma Ahmad Rugina.<\/p>\n

The CCM Chairperson made the phone call at an occasion when the party\u2019s Secretary General, Daniel Chongolo had visited the branch to review the party\u2019s strength at the grassroots.<\/p>\n

President Samia commended Mr Rugina for his strong guidance and participation in the party\u2019s development at the grassroots as well as serving as chairperson for twenty years.<\/p>\n

She urged the leader to teach his fellow grassroots chairpersons strong leadership, so as he can serve as a role model in leading and developing strong foundation for CCM right from the grassroots.<\/p>\n

Among other issues, President Samia asked the leader whether his people have been vaccinated against Coronavirus, where Mr Rugina said majority of the people at the ward have been vaccinated and that the process to get more people injected is well in progress.<\/p>\n

\u201cVaccination is currently taking place together with educating wananchi on using face masks, maintaining social distancing and washing hands using running water or sanitisers,\u201d he said. He thanked President Samia for continued efforts and resources that her government has dedicated to improving road infrastructures, including construction of the main road that connects Kasulu with the neighbouring country.<\/p>\n

Mr Rugina asked the president to approve funds for the construction of drainage systems at the newly constructed gravel roads in Kasulu District to prevent erosion of the gravel during heavy rains. Responding, President Samia tasked the area District Commissioner to ensure the systems are in place.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the CCM SG tasked regional and district committees to use meetings usually organised by the chairpersons at grassroots to arrest criminals and illegal migrants threatening peace and security in the regions.<\/p>\n

He said the grassroots\u2019 level leaders have got enough and certain information about genuine and illegal individuals residing in the communities right from grassroots to regional level.<\/p>\n

\u201cMake use of these leaders serving at the grassroots level, they have got a lot of information about people who live in their areas and they can easily identify illegal immigrants,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mr Chongolo said meetings organised by the grassroots chairpersons are also useful in development plans set up by regional and district leaders.<\/p>\n

Kasulu District Commissioner, Anthony Mwakisu had told the CCM Secretary General that there is an increase of illegal immigrants from within and outside Kasulu District, searching for casual labour in the local community and thus threatening peace and security in the district.<\/p>\n

He said the fate of 11,678 immigrants who entered the country in 1972 and stayed in Kasulu, Kitanga, and Muzeze and later granted citizenship in 2010 remains unknown.<\/p>\n

In another development, President Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to grace the CCM\u2019s Women Wing (Umoja wa Wanawake Tanzania –UWT) meeting in Zanzibar this morning, according to the organisers of the event.<\/p>\n

Ms Tunu Juma Kondo- Deputy Secretary of UWT confirmed that arrangements were underway for the meeting to be preceded by a brief demonstration in support of Ms Samia, who has demonstrated and proved to be a good leader for Tanzanians.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe expect President Samia tomorrow (today) at the \u2018Maisara grounds\u2019 in the morning,\u201d Ms Kondo said as she called on UWT members and other people in Zanzibar to turn-out in big numbers to welcome her.<\/p>\n
