Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>THE ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has urged citizens in the country to fully participate, oversee and ensure value for money for the new classrooms being constructed countrywide to accommodate form one students come next year.<\/p>\n

CCM Secretary General Daniel Chongolo made the call here saying lack of public involvement may lead to construction of infrastructure with poor quality that will not last longer thus necessitating the need for constructing new classrooms in the future .<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a must for each and every member of the public to keep an eye on the construction of the new classrooms, oversee and ensure the value for money for the structures,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mr Chongolo told the \u2018Wananchi\u2019 that if they fail to oversee the construction of the buildings in their areas, they will help to create loopholes for misuse of public funds provided to facilitate construction process thus leading to poor quality infrastructure.<\/p>\n

The CCM SG made the statement when addressing the \u2018Wananchi\u2019 at regional and district leaders in Pongwe Ward, Tanganyika District in Katavi Region.<\/p>\n

In another development, Chongolo told the public that all form one students set to join form one will report and be admitted to their respective in secondary schools in January.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll students set to join form one next year will all be admitted in January, there will be no first, second or third selections as it has been in the past y,\u201d he said adding that the government has started addressing challenges that delayed admission of some form students in secondary schools.<\/p>\n

\u201cScarcity of classrooms was the main challenge that caused delay in admitting students but for now the government has put up strategies to address it as directed by CCM,\u201d he said. Some 15,000 classrooms are being constructed for secondary schools to accommodate form one students.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Chongolo assured the \u2018wananchi\u2019 that the free education policy initiated in 2015 will continue to be implemented as planned and that CCM has no plans to stop it. He said the government has set various strategic plans meant to continue implementing the plan.<\/p>\n
