Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>THE government has vowed to effectively supervise land planning and legal procedures of land uses in the country for provision of better services and end land conflicts that have been occurring in different parts.<\/p>\n

The assurance was given by Minister for Lands, Housing and Human Settlement Development, Mr William Lukuvi when gracing a general meeting of the Institution of surveyors of Tanzania (IST) held in Dar es Salaam on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Mr Lukuvi said proper application of land laws helps not only in bringing fairness but also in avoiding conflicts.<\/p>\n

The minister emphasised that the government will not hesitate taking legal measures against surveyors found to be going against code of conducts of their profession.<\/p>\n

He called upon the IST to ensure that its members offer better services to its customers in different parts of the country.<\/p>\n

He underlined the importance of such professionals to market themselves by demonstrating good performance rather than doing things that tarnish their image in the industry.<\/p>\n

That move, according to Mr Lukuvi, would clear bad perception among members of the public over conducts of land surveyors.<\/p>\n

The general meeting of the IST was, among other things, aimed at choosing leaders and holding discussing to come out with solutions to challenges facing the institute.<\/p>\n

Mr Lukuvi said the profession is very sensitive when it comes to issues of management of national resources and construction of various infrastructures.<\/p>\n

On his part, Vice President of the IST, Bille Mussa said the meeting was also aimed at reminding members of their duties when offering services.<\/p>\n

“We have also jointly discussed about technological changes and put in place strategies on how to handle them. We have also discussed how the profession could further contribute to implementation of the country’s strategy for sustainable development.<\/p>\n

He further asked the government to work on some land laws that seem to be outdated and come up with modern ones so that the sector could be efficiently managed.<\/p>\n
