Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>PRIME Minister, Kassim Majaliwa on Monday reiterated the government\u2019s emphasis on establishing more vocational training centres, arguing that the move would enable youths get employed in different sectors, including manufacturing or create own employments.<\/p>\n

The Premier stated this as he argued over why the sixth-phase government has decided to focus on constructing more vocational training centres across the country.<\/p>\n

He made the statement after inspecting and laying a foundation stone for construction of Chunya District vocational training centre, in Mbeya region.<\/p>\n

After laying the foundation stone, Mr Majaliwa directed that the project completes in time to enable citizens acquire vocational education from the centre.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government has decided to build such vocational colleges in order to open up job opportunities since the training offered will enable the targeted group to be employable or create their own jobs,\u201d he said while appealing to Tanzanians to continue trusting their government.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, he instructed Mbeya regional administration to ensure the area at Mbugani village, where the centre is being constructed, has all necessary social services, including clean water and electricity.<\/p>\n

He conveyed a message from President Samia Suluhu Hassan, asking citizens to continue protecting and maintaining peace and tranquility in their respective areas for economic prosperity.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe duty of strengthening peace and security is upon each citizen, thus we should continue cooperating in strengthening security,\u201d he insisted.<\/p>\n

On his part, Director General of the Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA), Dr Pancras Bujulu, said the new college will consist of 17 buildings, including one for administration, four workshops, dormitories, canteen and others.<\/p>\n

He said when completed, the college will start offering six courses, including computer, mechanics, welding, tailoring and others. The project will cost 1.6bn\/- until its completion.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the Prime Minister inspected construction of 39-kilometre Chunya – Makongorosi road which will cost 67.2bn\/- and will be fully funded by the government. The project has been completed by 98.<\/p>\n

After inspecting the project implemented by Chinese contractor Railway 15 Bureau Group Corporation, Mr Majaliwa called on residents along the road to use opportunities brought by the project to initiate income generating activities.<\/p>\n

Commenting, Mbeya Regional Manager for Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS), Eng Eliazary Rweikiza said implementation of the project started on October 30, 2017, and was expected to be complete on August 31, 2021.<\/p>\n

However, the government extended the contract to allow construction of a weighbridge in order to safeguard the road from overloaded trucks.<\/p>\n
