Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>THE Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has announced the successful completion of the first three Tanzanian start-ups projects under the Next Innovation with Japan (NINJA) initiative.<\/p>\n

According to a statement released jointly by JICA and NINJA, the initiative aims to provide technical and financial support for selected start-ups, who have innovative solutions or business model for the Covid-19 situation.<\/p>\n

The NINJA Business Plan competition was launched by JICA, and it was open for start-ups or organisations in all sectors with a specific focus on emerging businesses in Covid-19-related fields including, but not limited to, health, disaster management, business services, education, food and agriculture, finance and logistics.<\/p>\n

In Tanzania, three start-ups are Agrinfo Company Limited, Jibu Maji Tanzania and Toolboksi Technologies Limited, emerged as winners from 90 applicants, by having the top innovative ideas.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, Agrinfo engages supports and connects the country\u2019s agribusinesses with other value chain players through data. They strive to increase efficiency through use of information technology to collect and analyse data to give insights to farmers and the value chain players and enable their decision-making process.<\/p>\n

Jibu Maji Tanzania capitalizes and equips emerging market entrepreneurs to create affordable access to drinking water and other necessities using a franchise model.<\/p>\n

It further said Toolboksi is a technology e-commerce platform that provides informal sector workers (artisans and handymen) with consistent work opportunities and access to up skilling and career progression.<\/p>\n

It connects households and businesses with trusted and verified handymen conveniently for their various repair, installation and maintenance service needs.<\/p>\n

Over the course of the last nine months, the three start-ups have received technical assistance through tailored business support workshops and mentoring conducted by Deloitte Consulting, with the aim of preparing them to be investor ready, ultimately enabling them to scale.<\/p>\n

As a result of the NINJA Project, start-ups have managed to improve their organisational capacity through refined business models, defined business strategies, as well as optimised marketing approaches.<\/p>\n
