Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>THE Moshi-based College of African Wildlife Management Mweka (CAWM-Mweka) in Kilimanjaro has expanded its scope of wildlife management professionalism after mentoring the establishment of a wildlife nature reserve in the Middle East.<\/p>\n

This was stated recently by the CAWM-Mweka Rector Professor Jaffar Kideghesho, during the 57th graduation ceremony of the college held at the institution\u2019s grounds in the Mweka area.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter a lot of hard work in providing wildlife management education to various experts, our college also received the honour of advising and finally facilitating the establishment of Sharaan Nature Reserve in Saudi Arabia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing the excellent work done by our experts in Saudi Arabia which included that of training the Sharaan Nature Reserve staff, the college has been entrusted by the government of Saudi Arabia to continue providing wildlife professional consultancy to the Middle East\u2019s wildlife experts,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the graduation ceremony, Professor Kideghesho said a total of 433 students graduated this year, after pursuing various courses during their respective learning tenure at the college.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to assure you that all the graduates you are awarding certificates today were well trained and they are mature enough ready to serve the nation; they all showed high levels of discipline, perseverance and were professionally focus oriented, while pursuing their studies here\u201d, he added before students were conferred with their academic awards.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the occasion which he graced as the guest of honour, the Kilimanjaro Regional Commissioner (RC) Stephen Kagaigai, hailed the CAWM-Mweka for its outstanding performance which he said had gone beyond borders since its inception in 1963.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the college was established in the early 1960s, you were subject to providing expert training to students coming outside the country but now you have gone a step forward by providing your professionalism to other countries in their geographical areas; these are great achievements at a time when we are celebrating 60 years of our country\u2019s independence\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

He appealed to the college\u2019s leadership to continuing working hard to ensure that they protect institution\u2019s great achievements as well as making sure they increase efficiency of the college.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all understand that wildlife and their (wildlife) natural habitats are important resources ecologically, economically and socially that need to be fully protected and conserved; every Tanzanian would like to see these resources continue to exist so that our children and grandchildren can enjoy and benefit from them; CAWM-Mweka is a great reliance towards achieving this important goal\u201d, he noted.<\/p>\n

Mr Kagaigai continued further said it was important for the college\u2019s administration to ensure that staff members also continue to receive quality training while at the same time continuing to do researches that would improve the institution\u2019s daily activities.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs conservation and tourism challenges continue to change and new opportunities continue to emerge, training for wildlife and tourism sector workers must change to keep up with the times,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
